Australia - Religion

Religion

Almost every religion and denomination in the world is represented in Australia. Australians would consider themselves a Christian country, though they are very accepting of other religions.

Most towns, regardless of size, will have at least one to several Churches at the centre of the township. Churches have played a very central role in facilitating the social life and the development of many townships.

You will find anything from Church of England, to Catholic, to Pentecostal and actively charismatic. The churches are often involved in helping the local communities with a variety of projects, from fundraising, to making their facilities, resources and manpower available.
For people who are immigrating to Australia, and are looking for somewhere to meet new people and experience support and friendship, the local Church can be of great benefit. There are no requirements to attend a Church. You are welcome to visit any denomination whilst trying to discover which one would be most suitable for you and your family.

Visit the yellow pages telephone directory website at www.yellowpages.com.au to search for Churches or other religions.
